Essay Writing - Freedom With the IThe 'I' verb is used throughout the essay writing process. A good example is if you say I hope that I can change the world for the better, that I am making a difference, you are saying that you have a certain set of values that you care about, you want to help people and want to be in the right place at the right time, you care about yourself and you think that you can make a difference.In each case, the eye is there, and it can be anything. That's what I mean by having a freedom to write essay topics. You can use the me liberally throughout the essay.What I mean is that you don't have to dwell on the 'I'. If you don't use the me, you may not realize how much that 'I' verb can take you out of the story you are telling.When you do write the me, you are creating a separation from yourself. You can use the me in various forms to get around that. It can actually become quite effective if you are open to using it.Another thing that I love about the me, is that it can serve as a great motivator. So many times, I have used the me to tell someone that I want to do this and get something out of it. For example, I would say, 'I want to change the world for the better.' This is a little bit different than saying, 'I'm going to change the world for the better.'We also sometimes say, 'I'm going to do this,' or 'I need to do this.' There is such a great temptation to go for the 'I' but in most cases, the more appropriate thing to do is go for the 'we.'By saying 'we' and connecting the eye to the 'we,' you have less vulnerability to write the I. You don't have to hold back in your writing. It will create more of a sense of ownership.You should remember, too, that you shouldn't worry about what other people think about the essay, as long as they have taken the time to read it. If they think it is okay to use the me for the purposes of control, then it is okay to use the I.
